London's Premier Exhibition Venues: Earls Court and Olympia
London is a diverse and thriving city that is amongst some of the world’s finest capital cities and as such attracts large numbers of people every day. People visit London to see either historical or established attractions or to visit one-off world-class attractions that are held at one of London’s famous exhibition centres.
Earls Court and Olympia are perhaps London’s most well known and highly regarded exhibition and events venues. Both venues welcome over 3 million visitors, 30,000 exhibitors, and over 1000 shows every year and continue to be the chosen venues of some of the most spectacular experiences in the world. With London continuing to attract huge events from all arenas of life including the business and showbiz sectors both venues are set to host some of the most important and historical events for years to come.
Olympia is now one of the oldest exhibition centres in central London and was first opened in 1886. Despite being the smaller of the two venues Olympia is a desirable venue for events due to the stunning Victorian architecture of the grand hall and the flexibility of the space available. Comprising three exhibition halls that can be interconnected to provide a larger space for exhibitors and its own underground and railway stations with mainline links from London Gatwick Olympia is a very popular exhibition venue for both business and commercial events.
Earls court is the larger of the two venues and was built in 1937. The venue was expanded in 1991 with the addition of Earls Court 2, a secondary exhibition venue. The venue still holds the record for having Europe's largest unsupported roof span and is considered one of Europe's largest seated indoor arenas accommodating between 10,000 and 22,000 people. The venue has hosted events such as the Brit awards, the Good Food show and the world famous Daily Mail Ideal Home Show which this year celebrates its 100th anniversary.
The first Ideal Home Show held at Olympia was in 1908 and has brought over 60 million visitors through the doors in the years that have followed. The show has become recognised for providing innovative and inspirational ideas for the home and garden and has documented the ways in which changes in both technology and social life have altered our home s and domestic spaces.
This year's event will take place between the 14th March and 6th April with one of the main attractions being the History Channel's 'Century Street', which will take visitors back through time and allow them to see how much our homes have changed over the last 100 years. Also on display this year will be an ‘Eco House’ demonstrating how eco friendly house design can help with energy conservation and recycling and the Allied Carpe's 'Dream Home and Guest House' which is bound to provide a wow factor.
