London's Flamenco Festival

The widely acclaimed Flamenco Festival graces the London stage at Sadler's Wells. Dance enthusiasts everywhere will be delighted to hear that the trend setting Nuevo Ballet Espanol will be opening the festival. Talented choreographers Rojas and Rodriguez's groundbreaking material crosses a wide range of musical genres and is a well-crafted mix of choreography. This contemporary piece merges 21st century pop, folklore from Andalucía and traditional Flamenco dance, a wonderful opener to the much-anticipated two-week festival.

Lluvia Eva Yerbabuena, the world-class flamenco dancer will be returning to Sadler's Wells with her brand new show. This year's theatrical piece is inspired by poetry, staring four outstanding dancers and an ensemble of musicians of the highest calibre. Yerbabuena's performances are known to be full of powerful emotional content and dramatic dance choreography with an air of sophistication.

The stage will sizzle with the UK's Premiere of award-winning choreographer and director Rafaela Carrasco's show Vamos Al Tiroteo. The piece is set to a musical collection from the 1930's of popular Spanish songs staring flamenco vocalist La Argentinita. The cast includes two passionate flamenco singers, four awe-inspiring male dancers and a lively band, a showstopper you will not forget.

The astounding Maria Pages hits the stage with a modern contemporary flamenco piece depicting through dance the journey of an artist painting a self-portrait. Pages' choreography complex in nature and multilayered is a juxtaposition of contrasting emotions revealed. A powerful piece filled with performance punch and red-hot passion, this piece will not disappoint. A master of her craft Pages accentuates each movement with a perfected twirl of her shawl or ruffle of her skirt making her performance a visual delight to watch. Maria Pages is accompanied on stage by eight other flamenco dancers and will perform with a live band including six musicians.

Bringing the festival to a close and the audience to its feet is the Gala Flamenca showcasing the innovators and renegades of the modern Flamenco dance scene. The show includes performances by classical and modern Flamenco dancer Pastora Galvan, traditionalist Manuel Linan and last but not least the wild hearted and rebels of the dance world, the sensational Belen Lopez and Rocio Mo lina.
