Build a Day of Fun at Legoland Windsor

A magical theme park in Windsor, not far from one of the Queen's residences, Windsor Castle and Heathrow Airport, Legoland Windsor opened in 1996, the first outside of Denmark.

The concept is built around the well-loved and iconic Lego toy system. The Legoland Park in Windsor is situated on 150 acres of land and is primarily aimed at children aged 2-12 years old. There are over 50 Lego-themed rides, Lego models, live shows, Lego building workshops and the park entertains over 1.65 million visitors each year, making it the fourth most popular park in the UK.

There are several themed areas at the Legoland Windsor, starting with the Creation Centre Building which includes ticket booths, guest services and the Model Maker's Workshop. The children can view the Crown Jewels and airplane cockpit in Lego representations.

Miniland is built on approximately 40 million Lego bricks and features landmarks, landscapes and models of towns and cities around the world from London, the UK, to Sweden, France, Italy and the Netherlands. The London Eye, Millennium Bridge, St Paul's Cathedral and Tower Bridge are all showcased in the London section. The models change yearly, some are animated and others are models of people.

For younger children, Duplo Land maybe more appropriate with its Fairy Tale Brook, (boat ride), the Mole-in-One-Golf (mini golf course) and Extreme Team Challenge (water slides). There's also a playground area, fountains, railway and regular puppet shows.

A popular area for young Schumachers, is Legoland Windsor's famous Driving School whereby they can actually earn a novelty license driving a Lego car. The Traffic section also includes a Boating School and Fire Academy.

Other sections of Legoland Park in Windsor include; Land of the Vikings, Kingdome of the Pharaohs, Adventure Land, LEGO City, Knights' Kingdome and new for 2010, Pirates Landing.
